Fire Station #1, at 1 Washington Street, houses Engine 5 and Engine 2. Formerly known as Hudson Central Station which has been succeeded by the new Fire Headquarters at 296 Cox St, occupied in 2005. It was built in 1895-1896, designed by Architects Taylor & Colby of Boston. Built by contractor Amos Proctor Powers of Hudson. It was built after the Great Fire of July 4, 1894 which destroyed much of downtown Hudson. It was Hudson’s first modern fire station of the times and was built for $14,000.00. It has served the Town of Hudson for 127 years.
