If The Emergency is NOW

The Hudson Fire Chief is the Emergency Management Director (EMD) for the Town and will take charge of the Town’s emergency response.

You may receive a phone call from the town’s reverse 911 system with instructions. You should also check the Town of Hudson home page for instructions and watch local TV channels 43, 45 or 47 (Verizon Fios) or Channels 8, 9 or 99 (Comcast).

If you are instructed to evacuate or need to do so, take your pet in its carrier or on a leash, an emergency supply kit including vaccination certificate if available (see link below to Emergency Checklist), and go to the designated co-shelter evacuation site (a co-shelter is a building or adjacent buildings where both people and pets can be housed). Hudson’s co-shelter is most likely to be Farley Elementary School, located at 119 Cottage Street in Hudson; however, check before you go.

If you prefer to shelter with friends or relatives, you may still find the checklist below to be useful. Also, consider the Commonwealth’s many Pet & Dog Friendly Hotels, Motels and Inns.

To Prepare for a Future Emergency

Make plans BEFORE any disaster occurs. Sign up for the Town of Hudson’s Urgent Alert system. Find out what housing options are available. The best option may be to stay with family or friends. Talk to your family and/or friends and make an emergency evacuation plan. Make sure they can house your pet(s) as well.

Discuss when, where and how you will contact family and friends in an emergency. Note that phone and internet service may be disrupted. Designate a place where you will meet.

Remember that, depending on the type and location of the emergency, your planned shelter may not be available. Have a back-up plan. Consider Pet & Dog Friendly Hotels, Motels and Inns.
